4. TEACHING PRACTICE
4.1 Procedures of Teaching
During my teaching at Future Integrated School, I was scheduled to do 4 demo teachings at the elementary school level, 2 times in class 2G and 2 times in class 1R. The subject I taught was mathematics. The materials I taught them were different. The materials that I taught:
Grade 1 | Sign of <, =, and > |
Number 7 | |
Grade 2 | 8 + One Number |
Straight Lines and Curved Line |

In the learning process at Future Integrated School, I apply the Problem Based Learning method. This method has an organized syntax, such as;
a. Orienting students to problems
b. Organizing students to learn
c. Guiding individual and group investigations
d. Developing and presenting results
e. Analyzing and evaluating the problem-solving process
Not only focusing on learning methods, before starting learning I do a class agreement. The class agreements that I do include:
a. Greetings: good morning / good afternoon
b. Motivate students before learning activities begin by inviting students to sing children's songs
c. Invite students to do a silent clap so that they can follow the learning with focus
d. Then, at the end of learning, I always provide a conclusion from the day's learning and say hello like "good bye, class".
Then, For learning media, the media I use when teaching is TV and several media that support learning such as the following:
The supporting media that I use in the learning process are Power Point and Wordwall website. The material presented in Power Point slides can help teachers convey ideas with a clear structure and make it easier for students to follow the learning flow. Meanwhile, with the word wall, students can play while learning so that they still feel happy while learning.
4.2 Time Management and Organizing Activities
Time management and organization of activities in teaching are very important to create an effective learning atmosphere. I leave for school 20 minutes before class starts to ensure that all preparations have been done properly. When the bell rings for class changes, I immediately prepare teaching materials. This step not only helps me not to be late, but also becomes a good example for students about discipline and responsibility in carrying out daily activities.
My teaching time is structured in a duration of 40 minutes. I use the first 5 minutes for class agreement, where students are invited to discuss the rules and expectations during the lesson. Next, 30 minutes are used for teaching and learning activities, where I implement interactive and interesting methods so that students are actively involved. Finally, I dedicate the last 5 minutes to closing, giving students the opportunity to reflect on the day's learning and preparing them for the next material. With good time organization, I hope to improve the quality of learning in the classroom.
4.3 Classroom Management
Classroom management is an important aspect in creating a conducive learning environment. Before starting the lesson, I always motivate students by singing children's songs and inviting them to do a silent clap. This activity not only creates a cheerful atmosphere, but also helps students to focus and be ready to learn. In this way, I can build a positive atmosphere that supports the learning process.
During the learning process, sometimes there are students who are not focused. In situations like this, I immediately attract their attention by repeating the silent clap. This method is effective in restoring students' concentration and ensuring that everyone can follow the lesson well. By providing clear and fun instructions, I try to create good interactions between students and keep the class orderly.
In addition, when holding group projects, I apply a fun approach to forming groups. I invite students to play games, where I sing and give instructions that form the basis for forming groups. In this way, students are not only actively involved, but can also socialize with their friends. Such classroom management not only makes students more enthusiastic, but also builds cooperation and mutual respect among them.
4.4 Problem-Solving
One of the challenges in teaching that I face is the language barrier. When teaching mathematics material, I use English to explain it but not all students in the class are fluent in the language. This situation requires special attention so that the learning process remains effective and students can absorb information well.
However, in overcoming this problem, I try to provide the best learning, namely when I teach using Power Point, I also add text with Vietnamese language to the Power Point slides that I use. This helps students to better understand the concepts that I explain. In addition, when I give instructions and students show misunderstandings, I utilize "buddies" in the class who function as translators. They can translate my explanations from English to Vietnamese, so that students feel more comfortable and can follow the lesson better. With this approach, I hope to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
